Basic Thyroid Panel

The BASIC thyroid panel measures the brain’s releasing hormone, TSH, which regulates the thyroid gland. The panel also measures the thyroid hormones themselves – free T4 (inactive) and free T3 (active). The panels screens for autoimmune disease of the thyroid by also measuring thyroid peroxidase antibodies. Vitamin D is additionally measured since low Vitamin D levels can affect the conversion of inactive to active thyroid hormone.
