As an effective T3 inhibitor, Reverse T3 helps the body maintain a proper balance of active thyroid. Too much reverse T3 can be caused by illness, stress, and nutrient depletion and lead to persistent symptoms of hypothyroidism despite normal TSH levels. Together with thyroid peroxidase antibodies, the thyroglobulin antibody test is used primarily to help diagnose autoimmune conditions involving the thyroid gland.
