Description
There are multiple conditions that fool the body into making more Reverse T3 than it should. Some of these conditions are very common including stress, illness, and even pain.
►Studies show that with any sickness, inflammation or physiological stress, there is a decrease in TSH, T4, T3 and an increase in Reverse T3. Reverse T3 is inactive and actually competitive as it blocks the T3 receptor.
►The more severe the illness or stress, the more severe the suppression.
►This is shown to occur with response to physiologic and emotional stress; depression; dieting; weight gain and leptin resistance; insulin resistance, obesity and diabetes; inflammation from autoimmune disease or systemic illness; chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia; chronic pain; and exposure to toxins, pesticides and plastics.
