Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) - Blood Test (Mens)
The Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) test measures the level of FSH, a hormone produced by the pituitary gland that plays a crucial role in regulating the reproductive processes in both men and women. In men, FSH aids in sperm production. Abnormal FSH levels can indicate various reproductive issues, including infertility or pituitary disorders. This test is vital for anyone seeking to understand their reproductive health and hormone balance, particularly those experiencing fertility challenges.

"Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) is a hormone that is produced by the pituitary gland and stimulates the testicles to produce sperm. It is part the male hormone highway.
In young men, the speed limit down this highway is 100mph. There is no problem with the signals (FSH)reaching the target (the testicles) and testosterone levels are quite high. As men age, this signal begins to markedly diminish and FSH levels will drop. When we evaluate men for low testosterone, this is the most common pattern we see - low FSH and low testosterone. We call this secondary hypogonadism." - Dr. Alan Hopkins
